Have We Destroyed Society Through Porn?

We all think about sex throughout the day, it doesn’t matter if we are getting some or not, we still think about it. Of course we all know that men are more prone to pervasive sexual thoughts but women are victims too. And there are tons of women who peruse porn sites in order to satiate these daily bouts of fantasy. But how destructive is pornography really? Some experts claim that it is in fact destroying society but is that really true? How can something that seems so harmless, something where you don’t even have contact with other people be so damaging? Or is it even damaging at all?

Let’s first assume that it is detrimental to our welling. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that porno is a wholly selfish endeavor. We don’t watch it to help someone else, we do it solely to feed out own innermost desires. This lust that we feel when we watch it can become so great that it overwhelms all other things in life. And it is a fact that many people who watch porn become addicted to it just as gamblers do to poker or craps. The more porn you see and watch the more you want and need.

The Dangers Of Porn Addiction—One school of thought

Wanting and needing more and more is partially due to what is called desensitization. It works much the same as violence in that the more of it we see the more it takes to truly shock us. If we see people having plain Jane vanilla sex all the time it ceases to turn us on in the same powerful way so we seek more extreme sex. Many porn addicts become so desensitized that they gravitate towards sex movies that are more and more violent and eventually they need to act these fantasies out in real life. By doing this they are just looking for a way to make it exciting again, to get some real thrills. This is probably the most frightening claim made by those against porn.

There is another important issue that is rarely talked about when it comes to porn and that is the cost. I am not talking about talking about how much it costs or where you can find the best and cheapest site, I mean that people never seem to talk about how much debt they can get into when it comes to watching porn. Those sites all cost a significant amount of money and a true addict can really rack up the bills. In fact there have been many cases of people losing their marriage not only due to the watching of porn but because of the debt they have accrued doing so. Digging oneself out of debt is a daunting task and not many want to have to deal with it if they don’t have to.

Many relationships, marriages and many families have been broken apart because of pornography and as long as it is out there this is not likely to end anytime soon.

Pornography And Violence

Violence seems to be in our nature as human beings. Just open the paper and you will read about a recent sexual assault or a murder or mugging. Studies have shown that those who watch significant amounts of pornography are more inclined to act out violently. Why is this?

Could it be that this is all because of desensitization? Is it that it’s simply a coincidence that those who commit violent acts watch porn in their spare time between beatings? Or perhaps it’s all because of the selfish nature of the beast. We want what we want and the more we give into this kind of thinking the easier it is to apply it to the rest of our lives as well.

But Is It All Porn’s Fault?

This is a very good question. Those on the other side of the coin will tell you that it definitely is NOT the fault of pornography itself. Heck, if everyone who watched porno went out and beat, maimed, raped and killed people there would be no one left on earth. So why is it that pornography is getting all the flack, can it really degrade someone’s morals so much all on its own?

No, almost certainly not but it can help to tip the scale in the favor of wrongdoing. If someone is on the fence as far as becoming violent it often doesn’t take that much to push them over the edge. It seems as though pornography just opens a door in some people that would otherwise, maybe, have stayed closed, a door we all would have liked to see stay closed.

But we cannot put all of the blame for rapes and violence against women on pornography. Obviously there are thousands even millions of men who beat and rape women who don’t watch porno. Look at Muslim countries for example, they do not allow any adult media and yet they have plenty of rapes happening each day just as in countries like the US where porn is rampant.

I think that it may be fair to say in some cases it’s not really the porn part of the violent porn that causes and triggers the violence but rather the violence aspect of it. Perhaps if we were to show all the violence without the sex we would see just as many beatings happening today.

Young People Of Today And Porn

When young people begin watching porn they find themselves getting a false sense of what sex should mean. When all they see is a hunger being stated they are missing out on the true beauty of sex and that is the intimacy that comes along with it.

Women become sex objects, pieces of meat that are good for nothing but pleasing sexually. This is not the way to build a true relationship or to foster respect towards the opposite sex. Once this kind of thinking has taken root it is next to impossible to counteract and now all of the relationships that these young men have throughout their lives are tainted.

And the sad thing is that in this day in age with pornography of all kinds so readily available online boys and girls are getting access to this material at younger and younger ages and this is detrimental not only to them as individuals but to society in general. Remember that no matter how corny it sounds the children really are our future. And do we want them all to be sex fiends who care about nothing other than their next orgasm?

A Look At Unexpected Consequences

Oddly enough while it looks as though sex may indeed lead to come violent behaviors it also seems to be deadening the libido of otherwise healthy men. Some say that due to an overabundance of naked women and sex online and in magazines men don’t want to bother with normal, everyday women anymore, they are all about the porn stars. Period. If a girl is not as hot as a porn star or built like one then she is just not sex worthy these days and this is a sad state of affairs. When men start turning away willing sex partners you know there is something funky going on and it cannot be good.

But it’s women who are being adversely affected as well. Do you think that it does a lot for their self esteem when men don’t want to give them the time of day because their tits are too small or their weight is not perfect? This is just one more reason why so many young girls think that they need to resort to breast implants and lipo suction and even why they want to dress so cheap and slutty. Hell, women are even getting their vaginas surgically enhanced these days!

Does Porn Benefit Anyone? Another point of view

Maybe it’s not porn that is detrimental to our lives, maybe it is just violent porn. This is the kind of justifying that is going on all over the world right now as men and women both look to find justifiable reasons as to why it’s okay to watch as much porn as they desire. Millions of people even claim that it is actually good for their health, it makes them feel relaxed, satisfied and happy.

Oddly enough if you think about it the countries that oppress women most are also those that do not allow for the viewing of pornography. Wouldn’t you think it would be the other way around if porn was all bad? Take the United States for example, this is one of the countries where women are most free, where equality actually means something when it comes to men and women.

Another take on porn being good for people is the way it can affect the immune system. There have been many studies that have shown that sex is good for the body primarily because of the beneficial effects of orgasms. When watching porn the vast majority of people masturbate and orgasm, thereby improving their health. The immune system can be bolstered with regular orgasms and as you can imagine pornography can definitely deliver those.

Orgasms can do so much more for the body than improve immune system function, they can even help one sleep better, or cope with stress more effectively. They can even help chronic pain for that matter by releasing endorphins. Let’s face it we are not all lucky enough to have a partner to have sex with and sometimes solo loving needs a little help from a good old fashioned porno movie.

And it doesn’t make much sense that porn is going to definitely lead to adultery, in fact wouldn’t you think things would be the other way around? If a man had no outlet for his sexual fantasies it makes sense that he would turn to another woman, if on the other hand he was getting his jollies with a harmless video then no harm no foul right? That way he doesn’t need to touch another woman in the flesh, and this I think would appeal to most wives and girlfriends more.

And in most cases it does, in fact many men and women are beginning to enjoy porno together. This way they both get to feel like they are a part of something bigger, some even claim this can intensify intimacy by giving them one more powerful connection. This is one more thing, like sex, that they share only with each other and no one else on earth.

And I hate to say it but it is a fact that much of the criticism of pornography as a whole comes from religious groups. This is because it so strongly goes against all that they believe in and hold dear. Many people out there who are not so religious or fanatical find it difficult to relate to those who are so vocal and so devout. It can be hard to take these sorts of groups seriously when they are so out there and against everything that is not mainstream. They and their sources must be called into question sometimes when their claims are backed up by nothing but their “word.” Or so some would have you believe.

No one is saying that all porn in good, just that some is not bad. Of course this is just one more opinion, even experts cannot seem to agree no matter how many studies they do.

What is the factual truth and who is really blowing the smoke is something that you have to decide for yourself. It is essential that you look deep inside of yourself and ask yourself the hard questions and have the guts to face the answers honestly.

Who Is Blowing Smoke Up Whose A$$

Ask yourself if you think watching porn is really doing you any good in life or if you are using it only to fill a carnal need that would be better served in some other way. Is this form of medial taking away from your relationship with others? Is it interfering in any way with your home life or your work life? Does the thought of giving up porn for good give you the chills? Are you finding it hard to make ends meet but still finding it impossible to cancel your porn site subscriptions? If so then chances are porn is affecting your life in ways that are detrimental to your wellbeing and your overall happiness. Don’t feel bad or ashamed, this is something that is happening to millions of people all over the world, you can do something about it, others have, all it takes is the decision to make a change for the better.

And if you are one of the people who really think that porno is not harming anyone then nothing is going to change your mind. This article was not meant to convert sinners or have a global affect on the world’s population, I just wanted to show some different sides of the same coin and perhaps make you think a little about what porn really means to you and those around you.

Of course it is not porn's fault. Bad people do bad things regardless of what they watch on television or on their computers. I watch porn all the time and I have never hit a woman or raped a woman in my life, I have never even had the urge or wanted to. It is not like sex and violence always go together.

Only sickos like the violent porn anyway and that proves that I'm right. Normal men don't watch the movies about raping and torturing women during sex so it cannot affect them adversely, it is only the crazies that watch it and freak out but they were already nuts and would have done it anyways, so again it ahs nothing at all to do with porn movies.

I think all the studies are promoted and financed by the churches, that is the only reason why anyone bothers doing then anyways. The church, all of them, hate porn and would do anything to see it made illegal so they are going to try and pin violence against women on sex tapes in hopes that will get them banned.
